As any of our regular readers will probably know by now, I’m a big fan of adventure games: old, new, good, bad – give me a point-and-click and I’m a very happy girl. So what better way to say ‘Merry Christmas’ to everyone than with one of the best-known characters in the genre, Gabriel Knight.
I can’t remember specifically the first time we came across The Mental Attic, but over the past few months we’ve gotten to know writer Kevin very well: we’ve competed at Dead Space (I spent fifteen minutes in the first room alone), played Left 4 Dead 2 together (he was so much better than us) and had several late-night chats (which have turned into philosophical discussions). I had the pleasure of playing the Gabriel Knight series alongside him and, although I haven’t yet managed to convince him that The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery is worth a second chance, we’ve had some great conversations about the adventure genre.
So to celebrate the festive season and the lady-loving, shadow-hunting, drawling sleazebag himself (we’re not talking about Kevin here by the way), please join us for a singalong of Twelve days of Gabriel Knight. All together now: “On the first day of Christmas, Gracie gave to me…”
Merry Christmas!
